Overcoming Hardship with Perseverance, Character, and Hope

Abby and her parents, Tyce and Julie, speak on Romans 5:3-5, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Hebrews 5:8, and James 1. We all need to build firm foundations before storms come. Then, when the winds blow, we are able to stand strong. Our story of Abby’s heart surgery during our first year of homeschooling and just weeks after the birth of our first child provides one example among many of how a firm foundation in Christ helps us develop perseverance, character, and hope that does not disappoint!

We have various other experiences and stories we share. You can read about many of them in our book “Powered by Love,” available now on Amazon.

Taking the Right Risks: How to Help Our Kids Face Challenges

Challenges

When we are secure and loved, we can take risks and fully enjoy the ride!

Abby and her parents, Julie and Tyce, talk about creating courage by embracing challenges as opportunities. Parents cannot shelter their kids from every storm, nor should they add difficulties or encourage kids to take risks that are unnecessary. We look to the example of others who have faced challenges and overcome, and we consider those who are watching as we face challenges of our own.

We use the armor of God and press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and we learn that when we fear God we have no reason to fear what man can do.

Finding Our Identity in Christ: Psalm 139

Abby LaQuey

Abby shares her testimony of how God created her in His image, with purpose, for purpose, on purpose, and how He has drawn her to Him. Her powerful testimony helps us all realize that we have value and worth simply because we are made in the image of God. Abby breaks down our emphasis on image, achievement, ability, or talent to help us recognize the truth of why we are valuable.

In addition to reciting Psalm 139, 1 Corinthians 10:27, Abby includes other passages and brings them to life in her speech. When we know who we are, we are able to live in God’s love and then also give His love to others.

Abby has memorized several other passages of Scripture, including the book of Ruth, John 14-15, and Psalm 1. She loves to speak on these passages in particular.
